The probable lineups

It will be the Volksparkstadion ground in Hamburg, the neutral ground chosen by Uefa, that will be the setting for Marco Baroni’s Lazio’s 2024/2025 Europa League debut against Ukrainian side Dinamo Kiev, who cannot play their international matches at home due to their country’s difficult geopolitical situation.

Coached by Oleksandr Shovkovskyi, a legendary goalkeeper active between 1992 and 2016, Dinamo will most likely propose a lineup mirroring that of Lazio, with a four-man defense, two midfielders, three quarterbacks and a central striker: in this role will play Vladislav Vanat, a 22-year-old talent who promises to be one of the draggers of Ukrainian soccer in the coming years.

The Biancocelesti will instead rely on Taty Castellanos in attack, returning from the injury that kept him out of the game lost Sunday at home to Fiorentina. The Argentine è scored three times in four games and wants to continue to keep his average up. Behind him, space for Isaksen, Dia and Zaccagni.

The 2024/2025 Europa League proposes, as of this year, the same formula as the new Champions League: the 'League Phase' involves 36 teams in a single group, during which each plays eight matches, four at home and as many away. The top eight go directly to the round of 16, teams from ninth to 24th place go to the round of 16, from 25th on down there's elimination from the tournament.
