The death è was caused by a sudden illness.

Fabian Caballero è died at just 46 years old in Paraguay, cut short by an illness while he was playing soccer (or "futsal" as it is called in Spanish-speaking countries) with some friends. Born Jan. 31, 1978, in Argentina, Paraguay had become his adopted home already during a career that would later lead him to wear the shirts of Arsenal and Dundee.

Paraguay’s own Football Federation confirmed the death of the former striker, also known in his career by the nickname 'Tyson'. "The Paraguayan Football Federation expresses its deep sorrow for the passing of former footballer Fabian Caballero, who had an outstanding career both in Paraguayan soccer and abroad. We stand by the family and friends at this difficult time", reads an official statement.

Paraguayan media reconstructed the moments that proved fatal to Caballero, who suddenly collapsed while with some friends he was kicking a 5-a-side soccer field. It is suspected that what cost him his life was a fatal heart attack.

Both Arsenal (for whom he actually played mainly for the reserve team) and Dundee (where instead he played for five seasons, with a total of 27 goals in all events) expressed on their websites and official social accounts their condolences for Caballero’s tragic and untimely death.
