Jannik Sinner: WADA appeals against acquittal
WADA has announced that it has filed an appeal against the acquittal of Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner in the Clostebol case. The World Anti-Doping Agency made this known in a statement published on its official website.
"The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA),” the note reads, “confirms that on Thursday, Sept. 26, it filed an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the case of Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, who was found by an independent tribunal of the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) to be without fault or negligence for testing positive twice for clostebol, a banned substance, in March 2024".
"WADA believes that the finding of “no-fault or negligence” is incorrect under current regulations. WADA calls for a period of ineligibilityà between one and two years".
"WADA is not asking for disqualification of any result except that already imposed by the court of first instance. Sinceé the matter è is now pending before the CAS, WADA will not make any further comment at this time".
