The news of the Jan. 31-Feb. 2, 2025 World Cup races vacated by Nove Mesto being assigned to Cogne reached Federico Pellegrino, who was busy in Germany in a series of tests at the indoor facility in Oberhof, where the German federation organized the national championships. The champion from Valle d’Aosta did not lose the habit of winning, dominating the sprint in a slightly different format than usual, but equally specttacular.

Meanwhile, the competitions continued in Oberhof on Saturday as well, with a women’s 5-kilometer cross-country race that saw Francesca Franchi win in 17’54″5 ahead of aka host Pia Fink at 15″9, third Caterina Ganz at 40″8, fourth Veronica Silvestri at 41″4, eighth Nadine Laurebnt, ninth Iris De Martin Pinter, and furthest behind Nicole Monsorno and Virginia Cena. In the men’s 10-kilometer Pellegrino finished third, 1’10″5 behind winner Friedrich Moch in 32’44″5, second was compatriot Kilian Koller at 1’05″2. Fourth Davide Graz, eighth Elia Barp and tenth Giacomo Petrini.
