Jannik Sinner succumbs at tie-break, Carlos Alcaraz triumphs in Beijing
ATP Beijing: Carlos Alcaraz-Jannik Sinner 6-7 6-4 7-6
Jannik Sinner fails to confirm himself as champion in Beijing. The world number one, in fact, è had to surrender after a long battle to Carlos Alcaraz, who è won the match in three sets with a score of 6-7 6-4 7-6.
In the first set, Alcaraz è got off to a better start, breaking the South Tyrolean and flying out to a promising 4-1 lead. Sinner però didnè t give up and fighting tooth and nail, he wrested his service from his opponent, regaining the tie.
The winner of the last Us Open took a big risk in the next games, committing a couple of very dangerous double faults, but somehow è managed to deserve the tie-break, where he è ended up forò under again. Alcaraz did not close the score even at 6-4, and after missing two set points he fired out an unforced forehand and backhand that gave Jannik Sinner the partial 7-6 (6).
In the second set, there's been great balance but the world number one squandered a great chance in the interminable eighth game, in response, where he narrowly missed the break. Having escaped the danger, Alcaraz instead took advantage of his chance and snatching serve extended the match to the third set.
In the third set è again the Murcian placed the first stretch by snatching the serve from Sinner in the third game. However, in the eighth game the blue restored parity and dragged his rival to the decisive tie-break, which was, however, dominated by Alcaraz who won the set and the tournament with a score of 7-3.
For the South Tyrolean it is the first defeat in the final of this 2024, as he has always brought home the trophy in his six previous attempts.
