Giuseppe Delfino is the 20th Italian in the Fencing Hall of Fame
Fencing Hall of Fame welcomes Joseph Delfino
Always one of the leading nations in the world of fencing, Italy today celebrates the 20th induction into the discipline's Hall of Fame, that of Giuseppe Delfino. Born in 1921 and passed away in 1999, he participated in four editions of the Olympic Games, winning six medals, including four gold (individual and team in Rome 1960, team in Helsinki 1952 and Melbourne 1956). Very important results he achieved by competing on his days off, working in the factory.
“The induction of Giuseppe Delfino into the FIE Hall of Fame è a further reason for pride and an honor for all Italian fencing – commented Paolo Azzi, president of the FIS -. It is a rightful recognition of a legendary figure of our discipline, who wrote extraordinary pages of Italian sports history".

In addition to Delfino, Marcello Baiocco, Diana Bianchedi, Francesca Bortolozzi, Giancarlo Brusati, Andrea Cipressa, Sandro Cuomo, Mario Favia, Giulio Gaudini, Edoardo Mangiarotti, Michele Maffei, Giuseppe Mazzini, Aldo Montano, Mario Aldo Montano, Nedo Nadi, Renzo Nostini, Mauro Numa, Cesare Salvadori, Giovanna Trillini and Valentina Vezzali are also part of the Fencing Hall of Fame.
