Luna Rossa, James Spithill considers retirement
The words of James Spithill
After the knockout loss against Ineos Britannia in the Louis Vuitton Cup final, Luna Rossa’s helmsman James Spithill, among other topics discussed at media microphones, è bluntly spoke about his own future.
"I think I’m heading toward the end of my career. The new generation è at a much higher level than I have ever reached. I think this is really the end for me. I have to be realistic, I really believe that the next generation has the talent and the skills; to make it. I think it’s time to hang up the gloves" began the Australian helmsman.
"We failed to be concrete during this final phase. I thank everyone, è a tough time for the team. It was an honor for me to be at the helm with Checco Bruni for two campaigns in a row. The relationship è became deeper and deeper and I learned a lot from him. Luna Rossa è has been a family. Now è it’s hard to express how I feel, but that è sport" too, added the Sydney native.
"I want to congratulate Ineos. If we look from the preliminary regattas to the Finals, they have made the biggest leap forward among the Challengers. Coming to us, è it was an incredible campaign. We had an incredible boat and a great team" concluded James Spithill.
