ATP Shanghai, Carlos Alcaraz unplayable: warning to Jannik Sinner
The Spaniard prevails with a dry 6-2, 6-2
Brilliant debut for Alcaraz at the Shanghai ATP tournament. The Spaniard, the No. 3 seed on the draw, swept aside China’s Shang with a clean 6-2, 6-2, confirming that he is in outstanding physical-mental condition. After winning in Beijing, overcoming Sinner in the final, Alcaraz aims to repeat at the Shanghai Masters 1000.
Alcaraz played flawlessly, never giving his opponent a chance to get into the match. At times during the match, the 19-year-old Chinese could do nothing but watch, in admiration, the tennis of the Spaniard who, right now, seems literally unplayable for everyone.
Exemplifying the last game of the second set with Alcaraz closing to nil, showing total superiority against the young Chinese tennis player. A special debut that should worry all other opponents, especially Sinner who, after losing the final in Beijing to the Spaniard, is aiming for a quick redemption against his rival.
Alcaraz seems to have reached top condition. After such a debut, è it is clear that he is, even more so, the favorite (along with Sinner) to go all the way. In the other matches, of note was the success of Medvedev, the No. 5 seed, over Seyboth Wild (7-5, 7-5).
