First stop in the new season in SuperLega Credem Banca for MINT Vero Volley Monza. Among the friendly walls of the’Opiquad Arena and in front of over three thousand fans, the Consortium men’s first team did not è manage to repeat the performance seen last week against Grottazzolina and surrendered in three sets (22-25; 24-26; 23-25) to Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza. It was a match that saw the Brianzoli always ahead at the start of each set only to suffer the Piacenza team's attack and comeback. After two tie-break victories last season, Monza has to yield the court to Piacenza. Top scorer for Monza Szwarc in double figures with 15 points, followed by Rohrs author of 11 ground balls. Amazing point by Lawani on 18-19 that ignited the crowd in the first set. Beretta and teammates now have little time to rest before already thinking about the next challenge. Monza immediately put the first set behind them and took a 5-2 lead. The Brianzoli stretch to 8-6, but Piacenza restores the balance on 8-8. Rohrs's ace earns MINT a new break lead (13-11), which immediately becomes 14-11 and time-out Gas Sales. On the return to the court Piacenza finds the right rhythm and gets to -1 (15-14), but two consecutive walls, by Marttila and Di Martino, stop Piacenza’s run (18-14). It’s the hosts who get to within 20 first (20-17), but Romanò è è is relentless and brings his team back to parity; 20-20. Beretta makes his voice heard on 22-21, but he is answered by his former teammate Maar for 22-22. Set point for Piacenza with Bovolenta's ace (23-24), immediately canceled. Today we knew it was going to be a difficult match; Piacenza è a very competitive team in all aspects.
