The words of Novak Djokovic

Speaking in a press conference, Novak Djokovic bluntly analyzed his performance in the Shanghai Masters 1000 round of 16, where the Serb defeated with a peremptory 6-1 6-2 the Italian Flavio Cobolli.

"I put on a very high level of tennis from the very first point. I had a very clear game plan in my head and I knew how to put it into practice. It was the first time I was facing Cobolli and I think the long match he played in the previous round affected him, because he wasné t able to be precise and responsive in certain situations. I was also very solid from the back trying to dictate the exchange as much as possible and ultimately it was two very good sets" debuted the Serbian tennis player.

"Now I am looking forward to facing Safiullin, a player who can do well on this surface. I have played him a couple of times, I know how good he is and how he loves to play fast by hitting early. I will have to be ready" continued the Belgrade native about his Russian rival next opponent in the round of 16.

"The advantage of not playing many tournaments è to be more fresh on the physical level. I am not worried about playing long matches consecutively. I am recovering well from the injury and two days off help to recover energy better, although it is not è ideal to have too long breaks when you play a tournament because of the feelings you get on court" added the world number four.

"My results testify to what I feel when I play here. I have always had great success in both Beijing and Shanghai because of the love and support of the Chinese people. Five years without coming to China was really a long time, I will do my best to come back again next year. I still don&#39t know what 2025 will hold for me, but I know I want to keep playing. I will haveò to see how my body isà toò I plan to move forward by prioritizingà the most important" events,” Novak Djokovic closed.
