The marathon tie-break ended in the best possible way for Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli. The Italian pair overcame, on their debut at the Shanghai Masters 1000, the duo of Tomas Machac and Zhang Zhizhen with a score of 7-6 6-7 10-7, after almost two hours of play.
In the first set it was the two Italians who went several times close to the break (6 break points), but both the Czech and the Chinese were adept at not dropping d'intensity; in their turns and taking the partial to the tie-break, which was won by the Italian duo 7-4.
