No doubt about the starting lineup

Today, at the Olimpico in Rome (8:45 p.m.), Italy-Belgium, a match valid for the third day of Group B of the Nations League, takes the stage. After winning the first two matches, the national team is looking for another success, so as to take a significant step toward the quarterfinals of the event, scheduled for March.

Spalletti has decided to confirm the 3-5-1-1 that has brought so many joys lately. Between the posts there will be, of course, Donnarumma. Three-man defense with Calafiori, Bastoni and Di Lorenzo. On the outsides will act Dimarco and Cambiaso. In the middle of the leader it will be Tonali, Ricci and Frattesi’s turn. Forward Pellegrini will act; behind Retegui.

The national team coach defended, in particular, Pellegrini. The Roma captain è was preferred over Raspadori. The coach praised the Giallorossi player, pointing out that he is doing well both with his club’s and the national team’s jersey, giving no weight to the criticism rained down on Pellegrini himself.

Clearly, the spotlight is also on Retegui. The Atalanta striker has started the season at his best and is aiming to confirm himself more and more with the Azzurri shirt, so that he can become, for all intents and purposes, the starting point of the national team. He hasn't scored with Italy since March 21, 2024: a double against Venezuela in a friendly. He aims to unlock himself against strong Belgium.
