Tuesday afternoon Anna Kalinskaya defeated Priscilla Hon in a comeback thanks to a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. The Russian showed character and personality, managing to torpedo the Australian despite a complicated first set.
The match between Anna Kalinskaya and Priscilla Hon was valid for the round of 16 of the Ningbo Open, a tournament that è returned to take place in 2023 after an 8-year absence since the last time. Last year è it was included in the WTA 250 category, while as of this edition è it has been promoted permanently to a WTA 500 event.
In 2023 the tournament è was won by Ons Jabeur who defeated Diana Šnaider in the final.
Class of 1998, Anna Kalinskaya has three wins on the WTA circuit to her credit, all in doubles (Prague 2019 with Viktoria Kuzmova, Portorož 2021 with Tereza Mihailova, St. Petersburg 2022 with Caty McNally) while in singles (where she won 7 ITF titles) she won the WTA 125 in Midland in 2023 and lost two finals this year, in the WTA 1000 in Dubai against Jasmine Paolini and in the WTA 500 in Berlin against Jessica Pegula.
