Italy Under 21 flies to the European U21 Championships, scheduled to be held in Slovakia in 2025 from June 11 to 28. The Azzurrini only needed a draw against Ireland on the final day of qualifying in Group A . At the Nereo Rocco Stadium in Trieste it ended 1-1: Casadei's goal in the first half was answered by Moran in the second half.
Italy U21 started off poorly and was saved twice thanks to two decisive interventions by Bertola but è the first to take the lead: on 23'Gnonto goes away on the right and puts in the middle for Casadei who controls and crosses, making Brooks dead. At 37' the Azzurrini could double on a penalty kick but Gnonto kicks it to the stars.
In the second half, the guests found the equalizer at 66' with Moran who with the saucer beat Desplanches. Carmine Nunziata’s men went into suffering but managed to resist the Irish’s attacks thanks in part to a decisive save by Desplanches on Emakhu in the dying minutes.
With this draw, the Azzurrini finish top of Group A with 22 points, ahead of just Ireland U21 and Norway U21, with 19 points.
