Maurizio Sarri and farewell to Lazio: Claudio Lotito’s backstory
A separation on which, several months later, explanations arrive.
Calciomercato Lazio: Maurizio Sarri left the biancoceleste bench on March 13, with his place first assigned to Igor Tudor and this season to Marco Baroni. It was certainly a turbulent farewell, on which in the meantime è Claudio Lotito wanted to return explaining what happened in those agitated weeks.
"Sarri and I had a good relationship. He both politically and behaviorally has his own ideas, but we had a strong chemistry based on mutual respect – Lotito explained to 'DAZN' -. Then it happened; a game in which Lazio did not do well at the Olimpico, I went to tell him about it pointing out the little pride to fight of the group. He agreed with me and we decided together for a retreat in Formello of the team".
"That decision was taken badly by some players, who by now felt little involvement in the project,” added Lotito. “During the retreat we noticed, however, that the problem was deeper and that there was an internal contrast, especially between the more experienced players and their coach. Sarri understood this, and that is why he decided to resign".
Lotito, moreover, added that Tudor also had similar feelings: "The team reacted" showing more pride. The new coach told me that forò there were substantial changes to be made, becauseé some men were creating problems for Lazio. We understood that no one could be master of the company, and now we have a coach like Marco Baroni who speaks the same language".
