MotoGP, Marc Marquez shines in pre-qualifying in Australia
The two contenders for the World Championship have been "studying each other on sight"
FP1 cancelled at Phillip Island, home of the Australian GP. The reason? Heavy rain. Fortunately, FP2 was held regularly and in the dry. The fastest on the track in pre-qualifying è was Marc Marquez who stopped the clock at 1'27"770, showing an enviable condition of form. Behind him was his brother Alex. "It's a track I like, we started well. È it was a very stressful round but I am happy", the words of Marc Marquez himself to Sky Sports.
Bagnaia started with some difficulties on the track but then he found the right set-up and è managed to travel on really important times. Above all è he always stayed "in contact" with Martin. Their duel for the World Championship is getting more and more passionate (the Spaniard è leader of the standings with 10 points ahead of the reigning World Champion).
To be reported, in the last minutes of FP2, some important falls such as those of Acosta and Miller that have messed up, due to yellow flags, the plans of several riders, in particular that of Bastianini who did not è manage to hit the right time to enter the top 10.
In the end, the Marquez brothers, Bezzecchi, Martin, Bagnaia, Vinales, Binder, Di Giannantonio, Morbidelli and Rins qualified for Q2. Nothing to do for Acosta, Bastianini and Quartararo who will have to make up for it in the next qualifying session.
