Now Jorge Martin scares Pecco Bagnaia: “He’s playing with us.”
A disappointing test, and one that raises more than a few concerns.
Pecco Bagnaia closes the Phillip Island Sprint Race in fourth place, managing to counter Jorge Martin’s dominance only in the very first laps. For the Ducati’s Piedmontese there are però above all to solve some set-up problems that became apparent on Saturday leading to the Grand Prix d'Australia.
"Already this morning I had noticed that I was struggling a lot with the wind – explained Bagnaia to 'Sky Sport' – That is why we decided to make some changes, which yesterday seemed to help me but today things were even worse. I could not get the bike to turn and close the lines in the fast. Already in qualifying it was soì".
Also scaring Bagnaia è was the state of form shown by Jorge Martin: "I tried to catch him, but I had the feeling that he was playing with us. Becauseé he was actually clearly faster than me, and he could have taken an even bigger gap from the start. But we knew that, becauseé in Phillip Island we struggle and he is very well".
A situation that Bagnaia fears will not be resolved even on Sunday, when the Australian Grand Prix will be run. "The race will last twice as long, but his pace was quietly that lì. The data says that his tires never dropped, mine did so already from lap 6. We must try to improve these aspects", stressed the Ducati Factory bearer.
