Another week in Top 15 for Anna Kalinskaya
Despite her elimination in the quarterfinals of the Ningbo tournament at the hands of Czech Karolina Muchova, Anna Kalinskaya remains firmly at the top of the WTA world rankings, confirming the 12th position (her best ranking) she gained last week. But Jannik Sinner’s partner has one more reason to smile, as she shows on social media.
In a story posted on Instagram, in fact, the Russian tennis player showed flowers, accompanying the photo with the words "My fans are the best", that is; "My fans are the best". A heartfelt dedication to all those who support the 1998-class athlete, who is seeking her first WTA title in singles after three successes in doubles.
This season, Anna Kalinskaya has reached two finals in the top women’s professional circuit, in the WTA 1000 in Dubai and the 500-point tournament in Berlin: in both cases, however, getting the better of è was the Russian’s round opponent, Jasmine Paolini in the Emirates tournament and Jessica Pegula in Germany.
The last tournament won è a WTA 125, the one in Midland in November 2023: in the final, on indoor cement, Kalinskaya got the better of Croatian Jana Fett, beaten 7-5, 6-4. The Russian tennis player, at the junior level, also boasts seven ITF tournaments in singles (the first in Shymkent in 2016, the last in Saint-Gaudens in 2019) and as many as nine in doubles (the first in Sunrise in 2015, the last in Croissy-Beaubourg in 2018).
