Federica Brignone and Marta Bassino lead the blue patrol in Solden
Callers announced for the first weekend of the World Cup
Seven women and five men will represent Italy in the first weekend of the 2024/2025 Ski World Cup: the program includes two giant slaloms in Solden, Austria, with the women’s race opening on Saturday, Oct. 26, and the men’s race running instead on Sunday, Oct. 27.
The women’s team will be made up of Federica Brignone, Marta Bassino, Roberta Melesi, Asja Zenere, Elisa Platino, Ilaria Ghisalberti and Giorgia Collomb; the men’s team will consist of Simon Talacci, Hannes Zingerle, Giovanni Borsotti, Luca De Aliprandini and Alex Vinatzer. It will be decided at the last the possible presence of a sixth man, Filippo Della Vite, who is recovering from an injury.
Among the twelve athletes already confirmed there's great expectation for Federica Brignone and Marta Bassino, who among all the summoned athletes are the only ones to have won at least one race in the 2023/2024 season: Brignone, by the way, è just back from second place in the overall CdM behind Lara Gut-Behrami, who preceded the Valle d’Aosta woman by a few points also in the specialty rankings of the Giant and Super-G.
As for the men, however, the goal è to improve the results in the technical disciplines: the podium in the CdM, in the giant slalom, has been missing since December 20, 2021, when De Aliprandini managedì to finish second on the Gran Risa in Alta Badia, behind the Swiss Marco Odermatt, the dominator of the last three seasons at the men's level.
