Matteo Arnaldi remounted and defeated in Basel

Matteo Arnaldi's adventure at the Basel ATP 500 comes to an immediate halt. In fact, in his debut at the 'Swiss Indoors Basel', the Ligurian tennis player was beaten back by Belgian David Goffin, world number 54, who won with a final score of 6-7 6-3 6-2 after two and a half hours of battle.
Arnaldi got off to a bad start and gave up the serve in the third game (1-2). Goffin's lead, however, is short-lived: in the sixth game, the Azure signs the counter-break and rejoins his opponent (3-3). The next game forò the Ligurian gives up his service again (3-4) but Goffin does not take advantage, also wasting two set points. It comes soì to the tie-break, won by measure (7-5) by Matteo.
The second set è more linear, but in the eighth game the balance is suddenly broken: Arnaldi runs into a lapse on his service, committing four gratuitous errors that cost him the break and the partial, closed by Goffin for 6-3.
In the third and decisive set, another black-out by the Italian in the fifth game, in which he committed as many as three double faults, cost him the match. Goffin went up 3-2 and repeated the break lead in the seventh game, before closing the file on the final 6-2.
