Pisa ticked off in Frosinone, Sampdoria and Catanzaro rise again
Slowing the leader, moving the standings behind it.
Pisa is back on the brakes after two consecutive victories and picks up just one point on the field of Frosinone, Serie B’s tail-end and moreover forced into numerical inferiority after just five minutes. However, the Nerazzurri retain the top of a ranking in which Sampdoria (now in the playoff zone) and Catanzaro collect important points.
In Frosinone, an episode that occurred as early as 5' when Cichero struck Semper, Pisa’s goalkeeper, deserving a direct red. One would expect a reaction from the guests that proves ineffective, however, so much so that it is Marchizza, Bracaglia and Gelli who create some dangers. Then a foul denies Bonfanti the Nerazzurri advantage and Cerofolini twice armors the result on Moreo.
In Marassi, however, the challenge between Sampdoria and Mantova ends 1-0. The match-winning goal came at 61' and bore the signature of Kasami allowing the blucerchiati to enter the playoff zone on 14 points (enough for seventh place in the standings shared with Cesena). Virgilians at 12, which right now means -2 from the playoffs but also only +1 from the playout zone in an extremely short mid-table.
In the same position is in fact Catanzaro, after a clear 3-0 win over a Südtirol that in turn is part of the group of teams with 12 points. At the Ceravolo it all happens in the first half, with Pontisso scoring at 5' and Iemmello author of a double with the goal at 24' and the penalty converted at 41'.
