Jasmine Paolini continues to smile in a fabulous season. After her triumph at the WTA 1000 in Dubai, Slam finals at Roland Garros and Wimbledon, and'Olympic gold in doubles with Sara Errani, the Tuscan tennis player reached an incredible new record: è she became world No. 4.
The Italian, in fact, despite not playing last week, has overtaken the American Jessica Pegula and Kazakh Elena Rybakina in the WTA ranking, hoisting herself to fourth place. Paolini thus equaled the record of Francesca Schiavone, the only Italian tennis player able to move so high in the world rankings, reaching the fourth position on January 31, 2011, after hitting the quarterfinals at the Australian Open.
A truly historic achievement for Jasmine, who does not want to stop impressing. The 28-year-old from Tuscany, in fact, is preparing for the WTA Finals in Riyadh, scheduled from November 2 to 9, in which she will be engaged in both singles and doubles with Sara Errani.
Among the other Italian players, Elisabetta Cocciaretto loses two positions and falls to 54th place, Lucia Bronzetti gains seven positions thanks to the semifinal reached in Guangzhou and rises to 77th place, and finally Sara Errani makes a small leap forward, hoisting herself to number 89.
