Roberto Mancini wins the Tapiro d'Oro and opens to a return to the national team
Roberto Mancini received the Tapiro d'Oro tapir from Striscia La Notizia correspondent Valerio Staffelli for his exoneration as technical commissioner of Saudi Arabia just fourteen months after signing a contract with the Riyadh federation.
"I am sorry. In these months we have done a good job. Sometimes forò the results do not come and there’was discontent on both sides", said the Jesolo coach, who denied the million-dollar severance package: "It's all lies".
Mancini, on the other hand, opened to a return to the Italian national team: "In life you never know. È still the most important team in Italy. We have done beautiful things, in addition to the record of 37 matches without defeat", the 2020 European Championship-winning coach said proudly.
Mancini coached the Azzurri for five years, from 2018 to 2023, leading the Azzurri in 61 games, ranking third on the all-time list behind Enzo Bearzot and Vittorio Pozzo.
