Atalanta-Monza 2-0, Juventus-Parma 2-2

Wednesday’s Serie A ended with Atalanta’s 2-0 win over Monza and a 2-2 draw between Juventus and Parma. Two results that reshape the standings in no small way, which sees the orobici climb to third place with 19 points (behind Napoli, which has 25, and Inter, second at 21), while Juventus loses one position and slips to fourth place with 18 points, with the prospect of being able to drop further should Fiorentina or Lazio (or both) win in the matches against Genoa and Como scheduled for Thursday.

In Bergamo è Monza cheered first at 59', but the joy of the goal was denied to Djuric because of a foul by the same Bosnian striker on Ederson. Danger averted, the orobici go through at 70' with Lazar Samardzic: è perfect the ex-Udinese man's left-footed shot from inside the area, nothing for Turati to do. At 89'89; Zappacosta closed the score with a splendid right-footer from a defiladed position, which caught the inside post before crossing the goal line.

Another goal-filled draw, however, for Juventus, which after the 4-4 draw with Inter è was again forced to make a comeback: Parma went ahead as early as 3', with a fine header by Delprato, equalized in minute 31 by Weston McKennie’s flick, on an assist from Weah. The Ducals put their heads back ahead at 38' with Sohm, imbued in front of the goalkeeper by Man, but Weah brought the score back to even at 49' with a first-time finish that slotted in behind Suzuki. It ends 2-2.

The two away teams tonight thus remain in the hot zone of the standings: Parma rises to 9 points and continues its winless streak (five draws and three defeats) that has lasted since last Aug. 24 (2-1 to AC Milan). One point less instead for Monza, which sadly closes a positive series characterized by draws against Venezia and Roma, interspersed by the round 3-0 inflicted away to Hellas Verona.
