The words of Guillermo Coria

Guillermo Coria, former tennis player and captain of Argentina, which will challenge Italy in the Davis Cup, gave a lengthy interview to Marca: "We are a young team. Our singles players have not played many matches. In doubles we have more experience with players who have been on the circuit for several years and have played several Davis Cups. Both in Manchester, in the group stage, and in February, we won very important challenges".

"We have to play against Italy and they are the favorites because they have Jannik Sinner and a great team, but we go with the same enthusiasm and desire – added the Argentines’ coach – We know we have a chance to make an 'upset' which would be fantastic".

So the former world number three unveiled his preference between the South Tyrolean and Carlos Alcaraz: "Both adapt very well to all surfaces but I see Alcaraz as more complete because he adapts very well to clay with his power. Everything will depend on injuries. The current power and speed can lead to more injuries. Those who leave leave leave a very big mark, a very big impact on people, and you have to do very well to continue to generate that impact on the fans. This new generation has different charisma and personalities".

For the challenge against the Azzurri, Coria will be able to count on Sebastian Baez, Francisco Cerundolo, Tomas Martin Etcheverry, Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni: "The teamè more or less clear, but I have to wait until the end of the season to know how they are physically, how they are mentally, what their goals are… Let’s wait until the end of Paris-Bercy and we’ll have a clearer picture".
