Helmut Marko chastises both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez
Helmut Marko is already going hard
.
During an interview given to the microphones of "Speedweek", the Red Bull consultant bluntly analyzed the complicated weekend experienced by Red Bull and Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen. More specifically, the former Austrian driver spared no criticism nè towards the Mexican nè for the Dutchman.
"In my opinion, the sanctions should also be seen against the backdrop of the strong discussions after the GP in Austin and partly as an overreaction. In the first fight between Max and Lando, I think the ten-second penalty is quite severe, while in the second duel Verstappen è was too aggressive and the penalty è was appropriate" began the Red Bull consultant.
"In Mexico we were one of the slowest cars on the straights. When an F1 engine reaches a certain number of kilometers, the reduction in performance è clearly noticeable. The problem Max had was with the intake duct. The pitch was not è good, so we had to fit a different component, which had come to the end of its life and was no longer planned for racing. In order for Verstappen to be competitive in these last races, I think we cannot avoid changing the engine in Brazil and taking the corresponding penalty," added the former Austrian driver.
"Checo had a bad weekend in Mexico. We know that qualifying is not his strong point, but an elimination in Q1 è very disappointing. It's incomprehensible that a driver with his experience would position the car incorrectly in the starting box, thus jeopardizing, right from the start, his own race" commented Helmut Marko.
