Alexander Zverev sets his sights on Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz: the challenge
The goal of undermining the two top world leaders è clear.
Alexander Zverev throws down the gauntlet to Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. The German è is currently No. 3 on the ATP world circuit, but he could climb one position to the detriment of his Spanish colleague should he make the final at the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000. A clear goal for him, even if the gaze turns even more in lù: to the overall ranking of the world’s best tennis players.
"I’m trying to grow all the time, working on aspects that I didn’t deal with in the past,” Zverev admitted at a press conference from Paris. “Tennis never stops, and to keep up you have to constantly find ways to improve. Also because right now Sinner and Alcaraz are showing such speed and aggressiveness that you are the one who has to constantly make progress".
In that sense Zverev è said he is aware that he is currently a few steps behind both Sinner and Alcaraz. "Right now the best are Jannik and Carlos, this è clear – the German pointed out – This is confirmed by the Slams they have managed to win this year. I, on the other hand, felt I was among the best in 2021, then the injury heavily affected me. I could have won at Roland Garros, but è what è happened and it all slipped out of my hands".
Just starting in Paris-Bercy, forò, Zverev wants to come back to scare the top of the ATP circuit. "This year I was among the papables to win, but it è was never possible. I hope things will still get better in 2025, because my goal è is always to win Slams"” he said. Sinner and Alcaraz are on notice.
