NBA, reporter’s push costs Joel Embiid dearly
Delicate moment for Philadelphia's All Star
To date, Joel Embiid has yet to play a single game in the new NBA season. Complicated by some knee problems (finally resolved) and an altercation with a reporter that will eventually cost him a three-game suspension by the NBA.
In the postgame showdown with Memphis, Joel Embiid argued with a reporter from a local Philadelphia media outlet, who was guilty of accusing the 76ers center of unprofessionalism and bringing up family issues. The argument became increasingly heated, with Joel Embiid è going so far as to push the reporter.
The NBA è promptly intervened, stopping the Philadelphia all-star for three games. In fact, Joel Embiid will not take the court until the game, scheduled for next Tuesday night, against the New York Knicks.
Specifically, heà will be forced to miss the games against LA Clippers and LA Lakers, both scheduled in Los Angeles, and the one, at home, against Charlotte. The suspension will also cost dearly financially. In fact, Joel Embiid, as per the rules, will have to give up about $1 million of his season salary. Clearly, far from happy is the 76ers board. Without Joel Embiid’s contribution, the team is struggling (1-5 the franchise record in this delicate start to the regular season).
