Atalanta, new tegola: Charles De Ketelaere also stops
A new tile on the eve of a potentially momentous game.
Atalanta without Charles De Ketelaere against Udinese. Gian Piero Gasperini, already forced to do without Sead Kolasinac against the Bianconeri, will also have to do without the Belgian in Sunday’s match that could give the Orobici an even rosier ranking in view of the direct clash between the only two teams currently ahead of it: Napoli and Inter.
As confirmed by 'Sky Sport', De Ketelaere è was evaluated by the Atalanta medical staff on Saturday morning. For him there's a low-grade injury of the hamstring muscle in his left leg, which will also force him not to honor the call-up for the Belgium national team. Also out is Kolasinac, who was forced to make a substitution before the quarter-hour mark of the Champions League match against Stuttgart, and who suffered a first-degree injury to the hamstring muscle in his right leg.
Quite a headache for Gasperini, considering the state of form and continuity; which De Ketelaere had found in recent weeks. Of note was his assist for Ademola Lookman, decisive in unlocking the Stuttgart game, but also the splendid goal he scored in the league in his Atalanta’s home match against Verona.
However, the problems that are characterizing this first phase of Atalanta's season remain. Over the past few months, Gasperini has had to deal with an always rather crowded infirmary, from long-suffering players Giorgio Scalvini and Gianluca Scamacca to the various problems experienced over time by Toloi, Kossounou, Hien, Brescianini, Zaniolo and Kolasinac himself.
