Milan wins derby and re-embraces Paola Egonu

Concede two sets the Numia Vero Volley Milano to’Eurotek Uyba Busto Arsizio in the seventh day of the first leg of Serie A1 Tigotà. Coach Lavarini’s girls, after a fine debut in the Champions League less than four days ago, overcame with some difficulty and only at the tie-break (25-18; 18-25; 25-20; 18-25; 15-10) the Bustoccas in front of the home crowd. A no-holds-barred fight the one that took place at the Allianz Cloud and lasted over two hours: Orro and companions after dominating the opening partial (25-18), suffered the game of Busto in the second set – but already on the final of the previous one; the meneghine, with Daalderop and Heyrman, found themselves in the third fraction, but a tenacious Eurotek è was able to send the challenge to the tie-break. In the decisive set, Cazaute and Danesi were decisive, allowing Vero Volleyball to win two precious points for the standings. MVP of the match Laura Heyrman, author of 14 points and decisive in the third set. In double figures also Daalderop with a resounding performance (25 ground balls for her) and Danesi, with 12. For the meneghina team è coming up a really intense week between Europe and the Championship; Tuesday, Nov. 12 will be in Ljubljana, Slovenia, to face Calcit Kamnik in the second match of the group stage of the CEV Champions League 24/25, while Sunday, November 17 they will return to the court for the eighth day of the Regular Season, taking on newly promoted Cda Volley Talmassons Fvg.
Also for this seventh championship challenge, coach Lavarini confirms the sextet with Orro and Cazaute on the diagonal, Sylla and Daalderop as the pair of setters, Danesi-Heyrman in the center and Fukudome in the role of libero.
Capitan Orro opens the challenge best with the first point (1-0). She is followed by Sylla who immediately stops the guest attempt to take the lead (2-2). Cazaute’s service turn proves to be effective: in fact, Milan leads the opponents by +4 (8-4) thanks precisely to the French setter, scoring twice in a row, and to the winners of Daalderop and Heyrman. Coach Barbolini then decides to interrupt the game, but at the resumption Cazaute puts her hand back in it with the 9-4 ace. Danesi again increases the gap and with Orro’s acce soon after, Vero Volley takes a 13-7 lead. Busto tries to resist the meneghini attacks, but Daalderop è is more determined and on 15-7 comes the second time-out for the guests, which howeverò does not change the situation. In fact, Heyrman’s monster block registers the maximum advantage for the hosts: +10 (19-9). Eurotek tries to sew up the tear, but first Daalderop and then Cazaute lead Milan to 22-14. The first of ten set points bears Sylla’s signature (24-14), but Busto è skillfully nullified three of them and coach Lavarini called back his girls. At the resumption è Vero Volleyball to close the partial 25-18.
Sprint start in the second set by the Bustoccasas who immediately take a 0-3 lead. Milan got back in touch, but Busto held a firm +3 lead (3-6). The start of the previous set is reversed with the guests pulling away 4-8 from the hosts, who promptly respond with two consecutive walls bringing them back to -2 (6-8). Accomplicated by a few too many inaccuracies, Busto takes the lead again and the Milanese bench decides to stop the game. The bustocche in this second partial seem to have found the right rhythm to put the meneghine in trouble: 7-16. Daalderop and Cazaute try to sound the charge for their teammates (12-18), but Van Avermaet puts down her sixth point and 13-20. The Holland-France pair turns out toò win shortly after: first the Dutchwoman goes with the 15-22 ace and then the Frenchwoman scores 16-22, lighting up the whole crowd. Eurotek still wins a chance to close on 17-24, but Sylla returns the “favor” from the previous set and cancels it. Obossa puts her signature on 18-25.
At the start of the third fraction it is again Daalderop and Cazaute who lead Milan and open on 3-3 the first parityà of the challenge. Danesi’s wall tries to break the balance, but Sartori answers for 12-12. Back-to-back wall doubles for Heyrman allow Numia to take some breathing room (16-12). Sylla’s defense allows Daalderop to go all-out and score first 17-14 and then 18-15. The Dutchman è on fire and Vero Volleyball touches 20-16. Danesi turns on again at center and Milan escapes to +5 (22-17). The hosts win five set points, but the first one is not capitalized. Heyrman then sends everyone to the changeover: 25-20 and 2-1 Vero Volleyball.
As in the second set, Busto tries to escape (3-5) and Milan è forced to chase. Sylla’s diagonal serve makes it 5-7, while Orro’s wall records -1 (6-7). Heyrman’s serve completes the comeback and restores parity: 7-7. A new winning attack by Sylla brings a small lead for the Milanese and forces coach Barbolini to call for the 30″. It’s Vero Volley now to take the lead thanks to Cazaute and Danesi (10-8). The’Eurotek è tenacious and made a comeback, finding parity at 12-12. Piva’s ace is answered by Daalderop’s winning run. The Bustoccas again seem to have regained good energy and, despite Daalderop’s power, lead 14-17. After three consecutive Busto points, on 14-19 the Allianz Cloud explodes: Paola Egonu returns to the court after a month of absence and immediately scores her first point: 15-20. Milan from the heart recedes to -3 (18-21), but Van Avermaet does not let herself be frightened and on 18-23 coach Lavarini calls time-out. Frosini’s wall scores 24-18 and Uyba delivers the challenge to the fifth set.
Heyrman, Danesi, Daalderop and Cazaute light up this tie-break (4-1) and è immediately suspension for Busto. On the return to the court, the Busto girls gain a few points, but the meneghine keep the break lead at 7-4. Sylla records the’8-5 and the court changes. Busto attacks well, but Vero Volley defends better and leads 10-7. Cazaute frees her arm for the 11-8, while Danesi’s wall immediately blocks the opponents; the powerhouse repeats and on 14-9 guarantees Milan five match points. After more than two hours, Vero Volley won the set (15-10) and the match.
