World tennis champions are back in Italy: their joy
Smiles, hugs, cries of joy. The "girls d'Italia", newly crowned world tennis champions, after winning yesterday in Malaga the "Billie Jean King Cup", the fifth in the blue palmares, returned in the early afternoon to Italy. At Fiumicino airport, coach Tathiana Garbin, Elisabetta Cocciaretto and Martina Trevisan, along with the entire Italian team, disembarked.
"This return as champions to Italy has a special flavor,” Garbin said upon arrival.
“We have lived this fantastic week, experiencing all the emotions together, smiling, with so much emotional impact. I am really proud of these girls who have written the history of Italian tennis".
Cocciaretto recalls a special moment: "I was next to Martina when Jasmine was up 4 to 1 in the second set and we were thinking back to Tallin, to four years ago, with Romania: all formative experiences that helped us all grow".
" I am the youngest in the group and I still have to learn, gain experience and compare myself with them è definitely important for me: I want to share this now that I have achieved one of my biggest dreams. Climbing theì and raising that trophy è the&ughest thrill I have ever felt", he added.
For Trevisan "è a great moment for Italian tennis: I always believed in this group. I knew that sooner or later, with all the commitment and dedication we put into it, we would get to something great. And yesterday we saw it".
With the luggage collected, the "break up" after the extraordinary blue adventure, between big hugs and goodbyes, before a well-deserved period of rest and facing a new challenging competitive season.
