Record crowd not enough: Conegliano overwhelms Vero Volley Milan
Conegliano reinforces top ranking
In front of the 12,600 spectators at the Unipol Forum in Assago, a record as far as the Italian women’s volleyball championship is concerned, Imoco Conegliano does not tremble and, on the contrary, overwhelms Numia Vero Volley Milan with a clear 3-0, the result of three sets won 25-20, 25-18 and 25-15. In the standings, the Venetian team strengthens its lead by moving up to 30 points, a good 8 more than Paola Egonu and her teammates, who still remain in second place.
The one between the Olympic champion and Isabelle Haak è the most important high-flying challenge in terms of numbers: Conegliano's opposite number came out on top by scoring 20 points, with 4 walls on the score sheet, while Egonu had 15 points. For Imoco, 10 points by Gabi and 9 by Zhu Ting are also worth mentioning. 10 also for Cristina Chirichella.
As for Vero Volleyball’s figures, in addition to Paola Egonu’s 15 points, Myriam Sylla’s 8 and Nika Daalderop’s 6 should be noted. On the other hand, there were 2 points for Alessia Orro, who did everything to be there in the big match despite the physical problems that have weakened her in recent weeks.
Thus, the series of consecutive matches won, in Italy and in Europe, by Conegliano continues uninterrupted: the girls coached by Daniele Santarelli have never lost this season, and we have to go back as far as April 17 to find the last defeat, at the tie-break in the championship against Scandicci.
