Matteo Berrettini super: he makes up for Kokkinakis and brings Italy ahead

Great performance by Matteo Berrettini who in two hours and forty-six minutes beats Thanasi Kokkinakis with the final result of 6-7, 6-3, 7-5 and brings Italy ahead 1-0 in the Davis Cup.

After a hard-fought first set, Berrettini raised his level and his opponent could not find suitable countermeasures to contain him. The Italian closed the second set at 6-3, then the third fraction è was very hard-fought but Berrettini è managed to come out on top with strength and courage.

The Davis Cup è the world’s top national team competition in men’s tennis, whose women’s equivalent è the Billie Jean King Cup. The record number of victories belongs to the United States (32), while last year (edition number 111) Matteo Arnaldi and Jannik Sinner brought the title back to Italy after a 47-year fast.
