Generali Motors enters F1. The news had been in the air for a few days but now è came the official: the U.S. team will make its entry into the Circus starting in 2026, thus becoming the eleventh team on the grid in Formula One.
This was announced by F1 itself via an official statement in which it announced that it had reached an agreement in principle with General Motors (GM) to support GM/Cadillac's entry as the eleventh team on the Formula One grid in 2026.
"The commitment of General Motors and Cadillac to this project è an important and positive demonstration of the evolution of our sport,” stressed F1 President Stefano Domenicali. We look forward to seeing the progress and growth of this application, confident of the full cooperation and support of all parties involved".
"General Motors è a great global brand and a powerhouse in the OEM world and is working with impressive partners,” said Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of the FIA. I fully support the efforts of the FIA, Formula 1, GM and the team to maintain dialogue and work toward the outcome of an agreement in principle to advance the demand to bring a GM/Cadillac-branded team to the 2026 FIA Formula 1 World Championship grid. All parties, including the FIA, will continue to work together to ensure that the process proceeds smoothly".
