Simone Fontecchio doesn’t shine and Detroit falls to Milwaukee, Dallas folds Memphis and mocks Phoenix

On the night of Dec. 3 and 4, the last contests valid for the group stage of the 2024 NBA Cup were played. In the East, Milwaukee scored its seventh consecutive victory by beating Detroit and pulling away to qualify for the next stage as the top seed. In the Bucks’ ranks, star players were Antetokounmpo and Lillard with 28 and 27 points. Complicated evening, however, for Simone Fontecchio, who from the bench did not go beyond five points.

It was all easy for Cleveland and New York, who s're clearly imposing on Washington and Orlando. Second success in a row for Philadelphia, which folds Charlotte thanks to 40 points from the Maxey-George duo.

In the West comes a key victory for Dallas, which sprinted past Memphis, also pulling away from the last place available for the quarterfinals thanks to the better points difference than Phoenix, which was not satisfied with the triumph with San Antonio.

Already qualified, OKC did not relax and overwhelmed Utah, thanks to 63 combined points from the trio of Gilgeous-Alexander, Williams and Joe. Another comeback defeat, however, for Golden State, which is overturned by Denver in the final minutes thanks to a 10-0 run in favor of the 2022 NBA Champions.
