World short course championships, bronze and record for Italy’s 4×200 team
Another blue smile: bronze in the 4×200 freestyle
After the gold of the mixed 4×50 freestyle and Simona Quadarella's silver in the individual race of the same discipline over the distance of 1,500 meters, comes the third medal of the day for the Azzurri to close Friday of competitions in Budapest, home of the World Swimming Championships in short bathtub: è the Italian quartet of the men's 4×200 freestyle to make Italian fans smile, winning the bronze.
The quartet composed of Filippo Megli, Manuel Frigo, Carlos D'Ambrosio and Alberto Razzetti è came in third place at the end of the 800 meters overall, finishing behind the United States (6:40.51 the Americans’ time) and Australia (which instead finished in 6:45.54): the time of 6:47.51 is also worth the Italian record of the specialty; in short pool, one more satisfaction for the tricolor relay team.
The one won on Friday night is the sixth overall medal for Italy in the Hungarian capital: the tally is one gold, four silver and one bronze. There will still be two more days to win other important results: in fact, the Short Tub World Championships will see their epilogue on Sunday, December 15.
That of Budapest 2024 è the seventeenth edition of the World Short Tub Championships: the first dates back to 1993, when it was Palma de Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands (Spain) to host the event, so far never hosted by Italy. Two years ago the event was held in Melbourne, Australia: Italy won five golds, six silvers and five bronzes, for a total of sixteen medals.
