Super League, new attempt and request to Uefa: here is the Unify League

New Superleague attempt by A22 Sports Management, the agency that won the appeal against Uefa&#39s dominant position at the European Court of Justice. Bernd Reichart, Ceo of A22, announced the unveiling of a new European competition, called "Unify League", and called for official recognition of the tournament by Uefa and Fifa, on the strength of the appeal won in the past.

Qualification for the new tournament will be "inclusive, meritocratic and compatible with the overall schedule" based on the ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union. The qualification system will now be based on annual performance in national championships. "The A22 proposal incorporates feedback received from a relevant variety of soccer stakeholders over the years and particularly since the ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union. A key feature è is the revised qualification system, whereby club participation è is based on annual performance in domestic leagues. The proposal è also fully aligned with the UEFA definition of the 'European Sport Model'. The revised annual qualification system è was largely developed as a result of discussions with clubs, leagues and other parties. These discussions have increased significantly since the court ruling, which has generated a more constructive environment for open dialogue".

These are the words of Reichart: "A22 è focused on ensuring the sustainable growth and development of soccer. Our extensive engagement with key stakeholders revealed a number of urgent challenges facing soccer, including rising season ticket costs for fans, an overburdened schedule for players, underinvestment in women’s soccer, and dissatisfaction with the format and governance of current pan-European competitions. Our proposal è designed to directly address these challenges".

Unify League, according to A22, will offer both free viewing of matches, supported by advertising" and affordable premium subscriptions. "Now è is the time for all stakeholders, including Uefa and Fifa, to bring real innovation that prioritizes the fans'experience and accessibility, the well-being of players and the competitive value of matches. We remain committed to fostering relationships based on mutual respect, transparency and constructive dialogue. The fans, players, clubs, leagues and other groups that make up the soccer community deserve nothing less".

The new format will feature 96 teams divided into four leagues: the Star League, Gold League, Blue League and Union League. In the Star and Gold divisions there will be 16 teams divided into 2 groups of 8 teams. For the Blue and Union, on the other hand, there will be 32 teams divided into 4 groups of 8. The top 4 finishers in each group in the Star and Gold leagues will face each other in knockout clashes starting from the quarterfinals, while for Blue and Union only the top two in each group will qualify. The final phase will see a double round of round-trip competition for the quarters and then dry competition on a neutral field for semifinals and finals in Final 4 style to be played at a single venue
