Val Gardena, the Azzurri sound the charge.
Mountain skiing, Val Gardena
The voices of the Azzurri on the eve of the Val Gardena races.
Christof Innerhofer: “What will change for the races will be the weather compared to the trials, Friday will be wet and Saturday will be icy, it will go down 20 degrees. My feeling è was good in both trials. All the bibs near mine were doing pretty high times, but I was the best of that group. In practice I am fast. I will face the races with more doubt than in the past, but I still believe. I hope I can do a good run: I think in the downhill I will doò better than in the super-G. It will be the one who will have the speed in the first part up to Ciaslat who will have a chance to win, there is no use doing well only that passage. I have my technique for doing the Ciaslat and I enjoy it. There isn’t a corner where there isn’t a bump, so it’ll be important to do all the passes with the right time”.
Dominik Paris: “Last year I won here, but this year the track conditions are different. There are more undulations and it becomes more interesting to see who can bring speed. The weather is changing and we will see how to adapt. Però it looks like we will be lucky and have a sunny descent. We will get some snow and some wind for the super-G, but I think the race will happen. In America I did not start well, and not è optimal, but now the feelings are positive and the set up seems okay. The time of the race è however, different and lì will have to give everything and do well. It’ s likely that someone with high numbers can make good times, especially if the cold will come, but è it’ s useless to think too much about it: everyone has to do their own race”.
Mattia Casse: “The Saslong è a beautiful slope. Skiing here è really fun, especially because of the many jumps on the course. In practice there’was still some carryover snow, but I am confident that by the weekend it won’t be a problem anymore. For the races my goal è clearly to stay in front. The competition here è really strong, if you want to win you have to beat everyone”.
Florian Schieder: “Training è went quite well. Now of the races, the track will definitely change a lot, and the weather could also play a decisive role. We will see how the conditions” will develop.
