Alexander Zverev is pawing ahead of the upcoming tennis season, whose start è is now imminent: the German tennis player, currently second in the ATP rankings, is taking direct aim at Jannik Sinner and is not hiding it in a press conference. "I have felt close, on several occasions, to winning my first Slam this year. It èt come yet. If I stay healthy and fit, that's the main goal. I am number two in the world and right now I am behind only Jannik Sinner".
The serious injury è is now behind me, and 2024 è was the year of redemption: "In 2022, before I got injured, I was very close to the number one world ranking. I was one game away from becoming number one in the world. Then of course è came the injury. Obviously I am happy to be back in that position, to compete for trophies and top positions in our sport".
Now the goal è to grow further, and to surpass myself: " I was never sure I could do it again, especially after my injury. I wasn't sure I would come back and express that level. So being here è satisfying, but I am still not completely satisfied. I still want to achieve my goals and realize my dreams".
