Referees, stance taken by FIP and LBA
FIP and LBA, the note
Joint note from FIP and LBA: "As part of today’s Federal Council meeting, è emerged strongly the total confidence in the Italian refereeing class, recently the subject of a misleading and damaging narrative about their work", reads the note.
"Referees are part of a complex system, made up of players, coaches, managers and many operators distributed over different and articulated tasks within technical staffs and societies’in general; in general and all determined to act for the best, on the court and off – the statement continues – The Federal Council does not accept this narrative, which not only creates a negative climate among those involved in the field, but also infects parts of the basketball public that risk growing and spreading an experience of intolerance and bitterness towards the refereeing class, damaging the entire movement’qot;.
"A strong call therefore from the Council so thaté decisions made on the field are always respected by all, thus creating the conditions for constant and open dialogue between all players in our league. È it is necessary to ensure that the referee class can be in the best possible conditions to carry out its fundamental work, in an atmosphere of serenityà and respect by following the high standards required for the success of the championship spectacle, demanding from the same category the same commitment".
"È interest of the Federal Council to continue to collaborate with the technical leadership of the referee class to improve and further develop the technologies at their disposal and reduce more and more; the margin of error on the playing field", ends the note.
