Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli triumph in Adelaide

The year 2025 is off to the best possible start for Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli. The Italian pair, in fact, won the doubles tournament in Adelaide by defeating in three sets the number two on the scoreboard Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz with a score of 4-6 7-6 11-9, after a battle of two hours and three minutes.

The first set started immediately uphill for the Italian pair, who immediately suffered a 4-game-to-one split. However, Vavassori and Bolelli managed to fight back and string together three consecutive games that allowed them to get back on even footing. In the final stages, however, it was still Krawietz and Puetz who were more incisive, managing to concretize the break point in the tenth game and win the first partial with a score of 6-4.

The break fair continued even at the beginning of the second set, where as many as four breaks came in the first five games. After that, both pairs manage to find more continuity on serve, managing to hold their turns more easily. The real watershed of the partial, however, è the eleventh game, in which Vavassori and Bolelli cancel four match points, dragging the match to the tie-break, where s'impose 7-4 earning the chance to play the title at the super tie-break.

In the super tie-break the most complete balance reigns and the blue pair manages to place the decisive spurt only in the final bars, materializing the third match and closing the accounts on 11-9.

For Andrea Vavassori and Simone Bolelli this is the fourth career doubles title.
