Anna Kalinskaya's adventure at the Australian Open è already over, in fact it hasn&#39t even begun. The Russian tennis player forfeited within minutes of her debut match in the women’s draw against Australia’s Kimberly Birell, originally scheduled for the Kia Arena.

A bitter withdrawal that parallels the one in Adelaide played last week. On that occasion, Anna Kalinskaya had raised the white flag in the quarterfinals, in the match against Swiss Belinda Bencic, probably because of a drop in pressure due to very high temperatures.

The heavy withdrawal at the Australian Open will cost the 26-year-old Russian tennis player dearly. Last year, she had been on a splendid ride, reaching the quarterfinals of the tournament. As a result, she will surely lose important positions in the WTA ranking. The reasons for this new forfeit, which, in fact, excluded Anna Kalinskaya from the tournament before she even started playing it, are still unknown.

In her place, German Eva Lys played, who made the most of the opportunity, managing to beat Australian Kimberly Birell (6-2, 6-2), thus qualifying for the second round of the tournament. In short, 2025 è started really uphill for Anna Kalinskaya. At the moment, only big disappointments for the Russian tennis player.
