Alcaraz trouble-free, Djokovic struggles more than expected
Second set left on the road for the Serbian, ten-time Australian Open winner
Alcaraz and Djokovic won the pass to the third round at the Australian Open. All easy for Alcaraz. After getting rid of Shevchenko rather easily, the Spaniard settled Japanese Nishioka without any difficulty. Alcaraz closed the file in three sets: 6-0, 6-1, 6-4 the partials in favor of the No. 3 seed in the men’s draw.
Djokovic struggled more than expected. The Serb, capable of winning in Melbourne on 10 occasions, took four sets to get the better of Faria, world number 128. After a great first set, won by a clear 6-1, Djokovic lost the second partial at the tie-break (7-4). Then, the pride reaction with the next two sets won in fluency (6-3, 6-2).
If Alcaraz è already appeared to be in great form, Djokovic did not è seem to be at his best yet. The lapse in the second set was an encore to the one he had, in his debut match against young Basavareddy. The Serb, seeking the 25° Slam of his incredible career è called to raise his level quickly.
Alcaraz, in the third round in Melbourne, will face Portugal’s Borges. Instead, Djokovic will face No. 27 seed Machac, who è managed to get the better of U.S. Opelka. Marathon five-set match, won by the Czech tennis player at the last breath (3-6, 7-6, 6-7, 7-6, 6-4 the match`s partials).
