Alcaraz only devolves for one set

The matches continue at the Australian Open. It’s starting to get serious. It’s business as usual for Alcaraz and Zverev who win, rather nimbly, the pass to the round of 16 of the tournament, overcoming, respectively, Borges and Fearnley.

The Spaniard è disposed of Portuguese Borges, number 33 in the world, in four sets (6-2, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2). Ahead comfortably by two sets, the number 3 in the men’s draw had a lapse in the third set, lost badly in the tie-break. Immediate redemption in the fourth set. Second time in career in the round of 16 for Alcaraz.

"I missed playing on Rod Laver Arena, I am happy to be back. I really wanted to come back and win. I am happy that there is this atmosphere, è a privilege to feel the love of the public. I try to show a different tennis, è the one that makes me have fun and smile on the court", Alcaraz words in the post match.

It was all very easy for Zverev who eliminated Fearnley in three sets: 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 the partials of a match where the German, number 2 in the men’s draw, never gave the Briton a chance to get into the match. It should be recalled that Fearnley, in the previous round, had eliminated Australia's Kyrgios. The German enters the second week of a Slam event for the 21st time in his career. Nice win also for Paul, the tournament’s No. 12 seed, over Spaniard Carballes Baena in three sets (7-6, 6-2 6-0).
