Sofia Goggia sends clear message to rivals

Sofia Goggia shines in second downhill run
From the Olympia delle Tofane, the Cortina d'Ampezzo slope that will host the women’s speed trials this weekend, come more good indications for Sofia Goggia: in the second downhill run, in fact, the champion from Bergamo finished with the best time, thus sending a clear message to her rivals ahead of Saturday’s downhill.
1:34.63 was the time set by the champion from Bergamo, looking for revenge after a weekend stingy with satisfaction in St. Anton. Behind her was Federica Brignone, who set the second best time, 68 hundredths behind her national teammate. In third was Switzerland's Lara Gut-Behrami, just one hundredth behind the Valle d’Aosta native.
"I must confess that the slope è really perfect, a billiard, really congratulations to the organizers – said Goggia at the end of the test on the Tofane Olympia -: è a pleasure to ski here. Yesterday I had a fluent first run, today I tried to file where the lines were more abundant. I was surprised that I was soì fast".
Returning in December from a serious injury, Sofia Goggia è went three times to the podium in the 2024-2025 World Cup: in Beaver Creek è she finished second in the downhill and then won the super-G, while in St. moritz she finished third in the only Super-G she competed in. Just in this discipline è second in the ranking with 160 points: ahead of her is Gut-Behrami at 205.
