Fabio Soli: “Victory not taken for granted and lesson to be learned.”

Trento wins narrowly
The first official match of 2025 played at the’ilT Quotidiano Arena gives the’Itas Trentino men’s team a hard-fought but crucial tie-break victory. This success allows the team to keep alive its ambitions to take first place in the standings, right on the eve of the week that will culminate with the Italian Cup Final Four in Bologna.
In front of their own audience, which they hadn’t seen since last December 29 (when they beat Cisterna 3-0 in the Italian Cup quarterfinals), the European champions got the better of Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina with a hard-fought 3-2, in the match valid for the 17th day of the regular season of SuperLega Credem Banca. The final result could have been more clear-cut if the hosts had managed to capitalize on a three-point lead (21-18) in the final of the fourth set.
"Winning against a healthy team like Grottazzolina was by no means a foregone conclusion, so we still have to take the positive side of tonight, which è represented by the victory and two points for our ranking,” said Itas Trentino coach Fabio Soli after the match. Having said that, we have to però analyze also the negative aspects of our match; è it is true that we came from a complicated week that could have reduced our energy a lot, but è it is also true that we could have managed some situations better to close the challenge sooner and that, after a very effective first set, we should not have dropped at the level of continuity. Yuasa Battery è grew on serve and we dropped in attack, not taking good advantage of the countless chances we got. The lesson to be learned è to live some moments a bit’ more as a team".
