Madison Keys-Iga Swiatek 5-7 6-1 7-6

Madison Keys’ fairy tale continues at the Australian Open. The U.S. tennis player, the 19th seed, defeated world number two Iga Swiatek in the semifinals with a final score of 5-7 6-1 7-6 after saving a match point for the Polish player.

In the first set to dominate è tension: in the first four games neither player manages to hold serve. From 2-2 Swiatek placed an early stretch and went up 5-2 but was caught up by Keys on 5-5. Ahead 6-5, the Pole earned a set point and converted it with a deep response that allowed her to win the first partial (7-5).

The second set è a solo by the American, who flies up 5-0 in an instant and closes in response for 6-1, bringing the match back to perfect parity. In the third and decisive set, unlike in the first two halves, è her serve was the dominant factor until 5-5. Here Keys gives up the serve to Swiatek who goes to serve for the match and earns a match point but wastes it with a backhand error. The American thanked and dragged the match to the super tie-break, in which she won 10-8.

Keys hits her second career Slam final after reaching the Us Open in 2017. In the final in Melbourne, the U.S. will face world number one Aryna Sabalenka, the defending champion, who overcame Spain's Paula Badosa (6-4 6-2) in the other semifinal.
