Mikaela Shiffrin decided the comeback race after injury

The World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm are just around the corner (they start Feb. 4) and Mikaela Shiffrin è ready to return to racing. The U.S. star announced her on the TODAY talk show that she will take to the track in Courchevel, in the World Cup night slalom on Thursday, Jan. 30, the last women’s World Cup race before the rainbow event, exactly two months after her fall in the Killington giant slalom that left her with a deep cut in her abdomen resulting in surgery.

Here are the words of the 29-year-old from Colorado: "&It has been a very challenging process of rehabilitation and recovery…. I think there was a little bit of uncertainty about whether I could come back this season, but I was able to get back on the snow. I was able to train a little bit last week".

"I think we will continue to manage the consequences of this injury for the rest of the season. But I don&#39t feel any pain. My muscles are working again. I was able to regain my strength. So physically, I’m in a really good position".

"The next step è competing. This è the next stage of recovery. So the recovery is not è really over, but I’m strong enough to get back to the starting gate, and è this is the next stage of this progression".
