Kolo Muani not enough: Napoli beats Juventus and secures first place

After 21 matches, Juventus’ unbeaten streak in the league came to an end. Thiago Motta’s team, in fact, è was defeated in a comeback by Antonio Conte’s Napoli, which responded to Atalanta’s success with Como and confirmed the first place in the championship.
Juventus came very close to the lead already after seven minutes: Cambiaso recovered a ball in the forward area and served Thuram, who extended for Yildiz who concluded towards the goal, finding a splendid intervention by Meret. The Bianconeri’s greater danger was rewarded in the final minutes of the first half, where Anguissa controlled poorly in the penalty area and Kolo Muani coordinated perfectly, finding his first goal on his first appearance with the new team.
In the second half, Napoli got off to a strong start right away with Lukaku being denied a goal by an excellent response from Di Gregorio. At 57', however, came the Parthenopeans’ equalizer: Politano let off a precise cross into the box on which Anguissa ventured, who inserted himself between the two central players and beat the HCL extreme defender with his header.
The hosts continued to push and on 69' the goal of the lead also arrived: McTominay was landed in the area by Locatelli and the referee awarded the penalty kick. From the penalty spot Lukaku è glacial and sealed his second consecutive goal.
After the pinwheel of changes, Juventus tried the final forcing to grab the equalizer, but the Azzurri fortress held until the final whistle.
On the next day, Napoli will face Claudio Ranieri's Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, while the Bianconeri will receive Empoli at the Allianz Stadium.
