Chiara Mormile’s saber shines in silver in Plovdiv. The 29-year-old Italian from the Army è climbed on the second step of the podium in the individual World Cup event, in Bulgaria, after an exhilarating performance that earned her her fourth medal as well as the best result in her career in the rainbow circuit (after three bronzes). The reigning European champion overcame Hungary’s Petrucz in his first match of the day with a score of 15-9 and later got the better of Japan’s Streets 15-8. Gallo, bearer of the Carabinieri, è stopped in the round of 16 on 15-8 by the U.S. Heatcock. Pietro Torre, ranked 20° had stopped in the previous round. Six months after the Olympic bronze medalist, Luigi Samele on his return to competition è was overtaken in the closing credits (15-13) by Japan’s Kato, finishing 33°, while Edoardo Cantini finished 48°.
